What a great birthday present. Waking up today and the feeling of doing a great gig the night before is what any musician would be happy with. The first show with Coolhand and The Chiefs was amazing and exceeded my expectations. The new possibilities that sprouted from that jam was inspiring and encouraging. With some new players added to the list makes this band's talent pool exceedingly deep. 3 part harmonies, and a band that can play any groove in any genre, what a canvas. John Wardle on guitar and backing vocals was amazing. JW's guitar playing sat perfectly in the groove with some real tasty parts reminding me of The Band and Little Feat. Then Roddy Reason chiming with some amazing vocal parts. Roddy is an amazing songwriter and musician in his own right so to have him play in this band is a major score.
Some gigs to plug....
Thursday 16th Feb - JOHNNY CASS & RODDY REASON
Venue: Bottlerocket. 2/90 Kinghorne St, Nowra
Friday the 16th March - A NIGHT AT THE CROSSROADS - Tribute to Robert Johnson
Venue: Caravan Club as part of the CARNIVAL OF SUBURBIA.
The Robert Johnson Tribute moves to Melbourne and Jeff Lang and his band join the cast!! This show seems to be going from strength to strength. The Carnival Of Suburbia festival invited me down to Melbourne to play in and organise the RJ Tribute, and I have been wanting to take this show interstate so it was an easy decision to make. A stellar cast and a chance to play with some of our country's most celebrated blues players like JEFF LANG, DOM TURNER (Backsliders), IAN COLLARD, JEREMY EDWARDS and my favourite blues singer in the country SUZANNAH ESPIE.
